Report

Today we played in black and white stripey pyjamas. Just kidding - but we were a bit slow out of the blocks. Both teams had players missing and so we played 10v10 but we didn't use the extra space as well as we could have, and it was Forest Hall who took an early lead. Parity was restored after good work down the left from Andy Irlam to get in a cross which found Myles Croxford, whose shot hit Joe Rudd and rebounded into the net - who will claim that one? Sadly we let it go before half time when Jason Corr was adjudged to have brought down a player in the box. However after studying the video replay from 3 angles, the pundits concluded that he may have been a bit unlucky. Owen Lyon saved the penalty but none of our lads followed up the shot (they were thinking about their breakfast at the time) and the penalty taker finished off the rebound. After half time Joe Rudd got us back into it with a goal that was definitely his, after forcing his way through the defence. We did have other chances to score, but it was FH who got two more to gain a deserved win. There were times when we played some good football but they were not frequent enough. The lads know that they can play better, but unfortunately too many had an off day on the same day - it happens at all levels sometimes! We now need to bounce back with an improved performance next week - we have done it before and we can do it again. There were some good performances though, and Jason Corr was man of the match.
