One of Those Days
Well at last our final game of the season and a cup final at that. On a day of mixed weather the boys met a considerable force in the City Juniors team they faced. Even at their best the boys might have struggled to contain the superb pass and move team football played against them, let alone deal with goals from the corner flag, own goals and the odd moment of indecision which also cost goals. To be fair the game was quite one sided, with a couple of breakaway chances for Charlie and Liam our only real threat on the City Juniors goal.
Perhaps the occasion got to them, perhaps they had run out of energy after a long season and the sleepover season kicking in, but whatever the reason the boys didn’t really do themselves justice. I certainly don’t want to dwell on the match (other than to say it was 0:0) but as Paul told them at the end, it’s a huge achievement to get to a final when more than 200 boys started the tournament, so they should be very proud of their achievement and treasure their trophy, hopefully the first of many. Perhaps the one thing to take from today was seeing how what fast passing and teamwork can achieve. If we continue to work hard, show the right attitude and play for one another there is no reason that next season it can’t be us lifting winners trophies.
Thanks to all the boys on a tremendous effort this season, get your breath back, work hard in training and look forward to a successful season next year.
Well done
